The Arcade of Babel is an arcade of text based games and other activity that explores how we read in public and use libraries and is a MakerDifference commission, supported by Arts Council England.
Our game-jam is a
free event for young people and families to make games with artists for the arcade and get them played in special arcade cabinets on display in Liverpool. Take part and you'll help co-design a unique library text adventure game hidden inside Liverpool Central Library, driven by special RFID badges for the public to play.
The next game-jam is on
Saturday 27th January 2018 times 10:30am - 3:30pm at Toxteth Library followed by Saturday 10th February 2018 times 10:30am - 3:30pm at Liverpool Central Library supported by Liverpool City Council Library Service's MakerDifference project. We'll be using the free webapp Twine to make our games together
Our HackDay is a free event for participants on our game-jams who want to work more in depth and is much more advanced than the game-jam work. We will be developing games with people from the Northern creative tech community inspired by gamejam games and co-building the RFID text game for the public in Liverpool Central Library.
